Growing up in Sanford, Fla., Francis Oliver only knew the black community. Her father was protective of his family, and didnt want her wandering too far from home. As a teenager, she participated in her first civil rights protest at a whites-only dance. She remembers watching the March on Washington on TV and how it changed her life. She now curates a museum dedicated to black history.
