Award-winning political journalists Judy Woodruff and Gwen Ifill will co-anchor gavel-to-gavel broadcast coverage from the PBS Skybox at both the Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL (August 28 – 30) and from the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC (September 4 – 5) as well as the Bank of America Stadium (September 6).

The Commission on Presidential Debates has announced the line-up for the 2012 presidential debates, naming the PBS NewsHour's Jim Lehrer as the moderator of the first debate on Oct. 3, as well as Martha Raddatz, Candy Crowley and Bob Schieffer. Jim sits down with Jeffrey Brown to discuss his decision to take on another debate.
Judy Woodruff writes: "With 28 weeks until Election Day, I am excited for the privilege of following another hard-fought battle over the most powerful job in the world, but I confess to sense of foreboding that the next few months may be overwhelmed by negative campaign attacks."
This election has been plagued with distractions that, for a day or a week at a time, have conspired to knock two ordinarily well disciplined candidates off course. On an almost weekly basis this election year, every well-laid plan has been threatened by the unexpected and uncontrollable. The trouble is, no one knows what will matter and what won’t, so they have to respond to everything.
