The Rev. Marian M. Taylor earned a doctorate in political science from Harvard University in 1986. She spent more than a year in rural Haiti for her dissertation research on community development, and she worked for five years in Mexico City for the Ford Foundation, helping women's groups and farmers. She earned a master's degree in divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Seminary in 1995.
